Modus Subsea Services has secured a contract with Statnett to carry out survey services for a new cable corridor in Ofotfjorden, northern Norway.

Modus will perform a desktop study to identify further site information and support the preparation of the project, and in the second quarter of the year the company’s Hybrid AUV (HAUV) system will be mobilized.

The HAUV-2 will collect geophysical seabed survey data, perform target inspection and an environmental survey across a 6 km x 1 km area.

The scope will be performed from the M/V Elektron in a water depth range of fewer than 10 meters to 500 meters.

“Working for Statnett, the system operator of the Norwegian grid, is a great opportunity for Modus to demonstrate this class-leading Hybrid AUV technology,” said Guy Lainchbury, commercial manager for Modus.

“The difficult environmental conditions that we will experience, along with the ability to collect multiple streams of data from varying sensor technology and at high speed, will be the defining factors of this project.”
