Statoil to Use Ocean Vanguard on Johan Sverdrup Operations (Norway)

Statoil Petroleum AS (Statoil) has received consent to carry out exploration drilling of well 16/2-18 S at the Johan Sverdrup field with the Ocean Vanguard rig.

Water depth at the site is 112 metres.

The drilling is scheduled to begin at the end of May 2013 and has a duration of approximately 63 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.

Ocean Vanguard is operated by Diamond Offshore with operations offices in Stavanger and with technical and operational support from the company’s office in Aberdeen.

The rig is registered on Marshall Island and Det Norske Veritas is the classification society. Ocean Vanguard was built in 1982 and received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA in July 2004.
