Stena Drilling Reveals Names of Killed Rig Workers

Stena Drilling, operator  of the Stena Clyde offshore drilling rig, reports that their two crewmembers who tragically died in an accident on 27th August can now be confirmed as  Peter Meddens from Darwin, Australia and Barry Denholm, from Lossiemouth, Scotland.

In its third statement made since the accident the company says: “Stena Drilling and Stena Drilling Australia would like once again to offer their heartfelt condolences to their families, friends and colleagues. The Company and its contractor are in close contact with both families and will continue to offer help and support as best we can at this difficult time. Both men will be sorely missed by all at Stena Drilling and Stena Drilling Australia.

All the operations on board the rig have been suspended and the well has been secured.

While the investigation into the cause of the accident is still ongoing, Australian offshore workers’ unions have demanded the same OHS rights their colleagues working on shore have.
