Subsea 7 hired for Baobab field work (Côte d’Ivoire)

Subsea 7 S.A. has been awarded a contract in the Ivory Coast by CNR International (Côte d’Ivoire) SARL (CNR International) in support of its Baobab Field Phase III development.

The scope of work covers the installation of spools and umbilicals. The effective date of the contract is 25 September 2014, with the main offshore installation phase expected to be executed by the Subsea 7 vessel the Seven Pacific in the second quarter of 2015. Onshore project management and engineering will be carried out from the company’s Paris office.

The Seven Pacific is a construction / flexlay vessel capable of operating in water depths of up to 3,000m. The vessel is equipped with a vertical lay system (260t top-tension capacity) and twin ROVs rated to 3,000m.

The Baobab field is located south of Espoir in deep water Block CI-40. CNR International started development of the Baobab field in 2003, delivering first oil in record time by mid-2005. Development of the field consists of producing wells and water injectors tied back to four separate subsea manifolds: two for production and two for water injection. The flow lines from these manifolds are tied back to a floating production storage and offtake vessel (FPSO). Oil is exported from the FPSO to shore via shuttle tankers, the natural gas is piped north to the Espoir Ivoirien FPSO, and then ashore via pipeline.
