Fergus Ewing, Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism, will be attending the event on Thursday February 9 when he will meet with Mr Gordon and key delegates as well as visiting a range of exhibiting companies.

Mr Ewing said: “The oil and gas sector is of vital importance to Scotland’s economy, supporting 196,000 jobs in Scotland and generating an estimated £11.1 billion in revenue for the Treasury this year alone, and its importance will continue for many decades to come.

“The skills and knowledge developed in Scotland since the development of the North Sea, especially in the subsea sector, are a key strength to Scotland’s economy and play a vital role in our future, both in the oil and gas sector and the developing renewable energy sector, and in particular the offshore wind sector.

“I’m delighted to attend this year’s Subsea UK Event and meet with industry representatives to find out more about the exciting, innovative work which is being done in this sector.”

In addition to the conference and exhibition, Subsea UK will also host the annual subsea Business Awards dinner on February 8 at the AECC, which will be attended by over 750 people. Sponsored by Forum Energy Technologies and SETS Ltd, the sold out event will feature Mark Gallagher, former marketing director of Jordan Grand Prix, as guest speaker.
