Sweden - TransAtlantic Industrial Shipping Appoints New CEO

The Board of Directors has appointed Kim Hedegaard Sörensen as new CEO of Industrial Shipping at TransAtlantic as from 1 March, 2012.

Kim Hedegaard Sörensen holds a Danish degree in Business Administration and an Executive MBA from IMD. He has held a number of executive positions at A P Möller – Maersk since 1994 including Head of Strategy at Maersk Line, Managing Director, Maersk Filipinas, and until now, CEO Europe Region, Damco.

Jensen, CEO of TransAtlantic. “We are very pleased to welcome Kim Hedegaard Sörensen to TransAtlantic and are convinced that his professional experience, leadership and strategic strength will contribute greatly to the success of TransAtlantic Industrial Shipping.”

TransAtlantic Industrial Shipping consists of five divisions with 50 vessels maximizing shipping capacity and providing best-class customer service. The business is focused on contract-based transport solutions, primarily for the Nordic base industry but also for major global actors.

TransAtlantic consists of two business segments, Industrial Shipping headquartered in Gothenburg, and Viking Supply Ships, previously named Offshore/Icebreaking, headquartered in Copenhagen.

Percy Österström, current CEO at Industrial Shipping, will hand over the responsibility for the daily operations to Kim H Sörensen in order to focus on developing the growing market, and in his position as Senior Vice President, further strengthen customer relations. Percy Österström will also be a member of the Board at Industrial Shipping.
