Swire Pacific Offshore in managerial changes

Swire Pacific Offshore (SPO), a service provider to global offshore oil and gas industry, has made several changes in senior leadership. 

The company has appointed Ron Mathison a new Managing Director in Singapore, who took over the helm on Monday, September 21, 2015. He has also been appointed as the Director of John Swire & Sons (S.E. Asia) Pte Ltd, with effect from August 1, 2015.

Mathison has more than 30 years of experience within various divisions of the Swire Group. Prior to his new appointment, he was the Group Managing Director of James Finlay Ltd in UK for the last seven years. Before that, he was the Director of Cargo in Cathay Pacific Airways. Mathison was previously the Director and General Manager of Cathay Pacific Loyalty Programmes Ltd and held a number of other senior management positions in the airline in various countries around the world.

Neil Glenn stepped down from his role as Managing Director of Swire on Friday, September 18, 2015. According to Swire, he has also left his position as Director of the company’s Board. During his years with Swire, Glenn was an active member of the Singapore maritime community and has served as the Chairman of the Offshore Services Committee of the Singapore Shipping Association (SSA) since 2011.

Glenn will be moving on to his new appointment as the General Manager, Europe for Cathay Pacific Airways.

SPO’s Finance Director, Nigel Gribble, also stepped down from his role to undertake the role of Chief Financial Officer in Altus Oil & Gas Services, a fully owned subsidiary of Swire in August. He is succeeded by Amyon Chaffey, who was with Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong, and was the Finance Director of The China Navigation Co. Ltd prior to that.

Furthermore, Swire said that its safety, operations and marine manning functions at head office in Singapore have also been restructured, and resources would be added to strengthen the team. Swire’s Operations Director, Ian Offland has been re-designated as Safety and Marine Assurance Director. There will also be new additions to his team, including Christopher Bowden as Global Head of Marine Manning, Training and Competence Assurance, Grant Michels as Competence Assurance Manager and Stuart Mooney as Operations Manager.
