Taiwanese Offshore Wind Training Center Enters Construction Phase

A groundbreaking ceremony has been held for the Kaohsiung Marine Technology Industrial Innovation zone in Taiwan which will comprise an offshore wind training center.

The training center will provide offshore wind GWO training for which Maersk Training and the Metal Industries Research and Development Centre (MIRDC) signed an agreement in February.

According to Maersk, besides training technicians for the local wind turbine industry, the center will deliver other services for the offshore wind industry.

It will be located at the Xingda Fishing Port near Kaohsiung City and is expected to come online in July 2020. The fishing port is currently being converted so it can support the sector, Maersk said.

The two companies began collaborating immediately after the contract was signed, with a team overseeing the establishment, equipping, manning and course scheduling.
