Teekay Offshore Partners ordered two additional LNG-fueled Suezmax-sized DP2 shuttle tankers at Samsung Heavy Industries for $265 million.

The order for two 129,220-dwt shuttle tankers is an option included in the initial contract for two vessels booked in August.

The vessels will be built on a new Shuttle Spirit design, incorporating technologies such as liquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion, Teekay Offshore Partners said.

Upon delivery in 2020, these vessels will join Teekay Offshore’s Contract of Affreightment (CoA) fleet in the North Sea.

The two vessels ordered in August will provide shuttle tanker services in the North Sea under a master agreement with Statoil, freeing up required vessel capacity to service the partnership’s CoA portfolio in the North Sea.
