Tekmar Bags Offshore Wind Project in Taiwan from Seaway 7

Tekmar Energy has secured an award in Taiwan from a repeat client Seaway 7 for wpd’s 640MW Yunlin project.

Tekmar will be supplying 150 of its patented Cable Protection Systems (CPS) which protect the subsea power cables as they transition from the offshore structures into burial.

The project is scheduled to be fully operational by the end of 2021, using 80 x 8MW Siemens Gamesa turbines.

Russell Edmondson, managing director of Tekmar Energy said: “The contract award on the Yunlin project continues our relationship with Seaway 7 following successful completion on the Beatrice offshore wind farm in Scotland and our recent award on the Coastal Virginia offshore wind farm.”

The contract is one of Tekmar’s largest non-EU projects to date, the company noted.

Jonathan Linton, package manager at Seaway 7 said: “The success of the offshore industry relies on performance, innovation and collaboration to deliver successful projects. We are especially proud of the Yunlin project and looking forward to working with Tekmar Energy who are delivering a key part of this excellent project.”
