Swedish tanker owner Terntank has taken delivery of the Tern Sea, the third of four 15,000 dwt chemical tankers with dual-fuel two-stroke engines ordered from Avic Dingheng shipyard in China.

Featuring a length of 147 meters and a width of 22 meters, the Tern Sea was named in September 2016.

Prior to departing for Europe, the Tern Sea will be loaded with its first cargo at a terminal in the Far East. Following the arrival to Europe, the vessel will be deployed under a term-charter contract between Terntank and an unnamed party.

Terntank added the first chemical tanker in the series, the Ternsund, to its fleet in June 2016. The vessel is distributing refined oil products from North European Oil Trade’s (NEOT) refinery in Gothenburg, Sweden.

In September, the company took delivery of the second 15,000 dwt tanker, the Ternfjord, which is chartered to ExxonMobil, Norway, distributing refined oil products from ExxonMobil’s refinery in Slagentangen, Norway to customers along Norway’s coastline.

The fourth tanker, the Tern Ocean, is scheduled for delivery in early 2017.
