While announcing the opening of a new imaging center in Kuala Lumpur, the firm explains that the new center aims to enhance its ability to serve local customers and support multi-client projects in the region.

During its first year of operation, the Kuala Lumpur Imaging Center will be supported by TGS’ established imaging teams, ensuring knowledge transfer, technical alignment, and operational excellence.

The center will leverage cloud-based infrastructure hosted in Malaysia to support efficient, secure, and compliant data processing workflows. The Kuala Lumpur Imaging Center is perceived to build on the launch and operation of the company’s Advanced Capabilities Centers for Petrobras in Brazil.

Wadii El Karkouri, Executive Vice President of Imaging & Technology at TGS, commented: “This expansion reflects a significant milestone in strengthening our presence across the Eastern Hemisphere and our commitment to delivering world-class imaging services closer to our customers.

“By combining local presence with global expertise, we are well-positioned to support increasingly complex imaging challenges across Asia-Pacific.”

TGS claims these centers have demonstrated the way local geoscientists, supported by global experts, can accelerate project delivery and improve customer outcomes in complex offshore environments.

These investments are said to reflect the firm’s commitment and ability to support its customers through reliable imaging delivery across multiple markets.

The opening of this center comes weeks after TGS secured an ocean bottom node (OBN) survey deal in Europe. The company also begun a seismic survey off the coast of Saramacca and Coronie to find hydrocarbon reserves as part of a joint project with Staatsolie and BGP Offshore.
