The Best Moments of 2017

The last year has been a fairly good one for the dredging industry in terms of new vessel orders, shipbuilding and new product developments.

In 2017, the industry placed orders for dozens of new dredgers keeping the shipbuilders very busy throughout the year.

The year began with DEME’s 7.950m³ LNG-powered trailing suction hopper dredger, named the Scheldt River, hitting the water in January at Royal IHC’s shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel.

Two moths later, Van Oord’s midsize hopper dredger, the Vox Amalia, has been successfully launched at the LaNaval shipyard in Bilbao, Spain.

The year continued with Jan De Nul Group ordering three 3,500m³ trailing suction hopper dredgers from Keppel Singmarine and Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. placing an order for a new self-propelled cutter at Dutch contractor Royal IHC.

Relive some of the 2017 highlights with DT and let’s hope that the 2018 will be even better!
