The Development of True Wet Gas Compressor

Experts from OneSubsea and Sulzer, among others, will share recent experiences in subsea processing during a technical session as part of Offshore Energy Exhibition & Conference 2015. Subsea processing provides an alternative to production equipment located on a fixed or floating platform.

Experts will present the viability of subsea processing for both green fields and brown fields. The session is moderated by Pieter Swart, who is leading teams that provide Design and Execution services to Shell’s Subsea Projects in Norway. Speakers in the session will discuss the latest developments in subsea processing solutions, including water removal and re-injection or disposal, boosting, gas separation and gas compression.

Gullfaks wet gas compressor

During this session the Director Sales – ECR at OneSubsea, Arne Birger Olsen, will cover details related to the scope of supply for multiple projects and provide an updated status after installations. OneSubsea has developed a compressor technology which is capable of boosting any combination of liquid and gas, a true wet gas compressor.

The Gullfaks field (Statoil) in the North Sea will be the first subsea application of this compressor technology (WGC) which was installed and commissioned during summer of 2015. Another project that will be highlighted is Total’s GirRI Project. This Project is a brownfield development offshore Angola in Block 17 and represents the first application of OneSubsea’s technology where the differential pressure is higher than 100 bar, rated at 130 bar.

Rombout Swanborn, Head Upstream at Sulzer, holds a M.SC. degree in Mining Engineering from Delft University of Technology, and a Ph.D. degree in Process Engineering (1988) of the same University. He will discuss and present the latest developments in separation technology and – building on over two decades of R&D – its possible and proven deployment in subsea production.

3D visualisation of subsea structures

This session will be completed by Ola Oskarsson, Founder and CTO of MMT Sweden AB. He will present ‘3D visualisation of subsea structures’. Oskarsson can count on 40 years of extensive experience in positioning, surveying, bathymetry and software development. He is recognized leading expert on marine survey and known for his technically advanced survey solutions for subsea projects. Oskarsson presentation covers experiences and results from 60 days field test of revolutionary new survey methods.

The technical session: Subsea Processing takes place Wednesday the 14th of October between 15:15 and 17:15 o’clock.
