The Netherlands: Alewijnse Finishes Installation on Cargo Vessel MV Delamar

Alewijnse has supplied the complete navigation, communications and electrical systems for the multi-purpose general cargo vessel M/V Delamar for Bodewes Shipyards B.V. Built and delivered by Marine Projects Ltd Shipyard in Poland in cooperation with the operator Briese Schiffahrt GmbH & Co KG, the vessel was delivered to the new Swedish owner AtoB@C Shipping AB on 20 July. She measures 87.9 metres LOA and has a DWT of 4059 tonnes.

The scope of the contract was comprehensive, beginning with the entire bridge system including all the navigation and communications equipment. The navigation system is from Raytheon Anschutz navigation and includes two navigation radars, a gyrocompass, and an autopilot. The delivery of the Raytheon Anschutz package marked another step in the cooperation between Alewijnse and Raytheon Anschutz. With Alewijnse recently appointed as Raytheon’s preferred supplier in The Netherlands for both servicing and new-builds, this project demonstrated again the success of the partnership.

Alewijnse also installed a communications package comprised of a Sailor GMDSS A3 (including the contract and SBMC Fleet Broadband system), an Alewijnse AIS system and all the accompanying sensors. All the engineering, installation and commissioning was undertaken by Alewijnse technicians at the yard in Gdansk, Poland, and the vessel was completed on time and fully operational after successful sea trials.

The complete electrical installation was also undertaken by Alewijnse; comprising the engineering, delivery and commissioning of the main switchboard, emergency switchboard, power distribution boards and wheelhouse desk. In addition, the company delivered the engineering as well as the commissioning of a LROS certified ALMACS alarm system, and was also responsible for the cabling, bow thruster motor, frequency converter and shaft generator and the interfacing of all cabling for the secondary systems for the main engine, CPP installation and steering gear.

Michiel Louwerse, Alewijnse Manager Navigation Systems: “This project is a great example of Alewijnse as partner for both navigation equipment and electrical installations. The delivered Raytheon Anschutz bridge system is a compact and complete bridge system which is ideal for this type of vessels.”
