The Netherlands: Tideland Signal to Showcase at Offshore Energy 2012

Tideland Signal will be showing its comprehensive range of aids to navigation (AtoN) equipment and systems for offshore oil and gas platforms, wind farms, ports and harbours on stand 495B at Offshore Energy 12 at the Amsterdam RAI from 23 to 24 October.

Tideland Signal has many years’ experience protecting offshore installations of every type around the globe with AtoN lanterns, buoys, radar beacons, fog stations, solar power systems and AIS (Automatic Identification Systems). Among the team manning the stand will be Ian Burgess and Andi Mohamadi of Tideland together with Robin Jansen of P. C. Jansen Marine Agencies B.V., Tideland’s agent in the Netherlands.

For Zone 1 hazardous area offshore oil and gas platforms, Tideland’s latest LED-based Syncrolan system typically comprises an MLED-180-HI EX main light station with a range of 15 NM, secondary light with 10NM range and an MLED-150 EX subsidiary lantern, fog signal, back-up battery banks, and an alarm and monitor panel.

On show for the first time at Offshore Energy is the HeliLED status light system which provides a visual warning for incoming helicopters if there is a hazardous condition, such as a gas leak or a crane in the vicinity.

Another new product at the exhibition is Tideland’s V-TrackTM InformerTM Ex, a Zone 1 hazardous area certified AIS AtoN for use on as an Aid to Navigation on offshore structures and jetties. Like other equipment in the company’s offshore range, V-10 Informer-Ex is certified to the relevant standard, such as ATEX Zone 1 (Cat 2) hazardous areas.

For offshore wind farms, Tideland supplies a comprehensive range of equipment and services complying with National Authority requirements as well as the International Association of Lighthouse Authority’s (IALA) Recommendation O-139 covering the marking of man-made offshore structures.

The range includes Tideland’s highly successful SeaBeacon 2 System 6 dual-band racon, which has sold over 900 units around the world and the TSD (Tideland Smart Display). This powerful AIS display system includes Message 21 (AIS AtoN data) and offers features such as record and replay, warning areas and AIS target filtering.

The system is unique in allowing operators to view AIS vessel traffic with the option of integrating and viewing AtoN status – all backed up on a database to provide a fully accessible record of events.

Another highlight of the Tideland stand is the new Nova-65, a compact, self-contained lantern featuring proprietary optics which provide a 360° beam at 5°, 10°, 20° or 30° vertical divergence. The 5° or 10° divergence lens is suitable for fixed aids to navigation while the 10°, 20° or 30° lens provides exceptional performance on buoys.

Approved to ISO 9001:2008, Tideland Signal Limited is a British-based member of the Tideland group of companies, which specializes in the design and manufacture of aids to marine navigation. The Tideland group is independently owned and has its headquarters in Houston, Texas.
