Thiess Secures Gorgon LNG Contract

Thiess said it has signed a new contract to deliver further civil works on the Chevron-operated Gorgon Project in Western Australia.

Under the agreement, Thiess will deliver miscellaneous civil works up to the value of $212 million over the next two years.

Managing Director Bruce Munro said Thiess was delighted to be extending its role on the Gorgon Project and further building on the relationship established with Chevron in Western Australia.

LNG Projects like Gorgon are providing major economic and employment benefits to the national, state and local economies,” Mr Munro said.

The miscellaneous works covered under the new contract may include earthworks, underground services, concrete works and temporary building works.

Thiess is currently delivering a diverse range of contracts on the Gorgon and Wheatstone projects in WA.

The Gorgon Project is operated by an Australian subsidiary of Chevron (47.3 percent interest), in joint venture with the Australian subsidiaries of ExxonMobil (25 percent), Shell (25 percent), Osaka Gas (1.25 percent), Tokyo Gas (1 percent) and Chubu Electric Power (0.417 percent).
