Tokyo Gas, Petronas aim cooperation in global energy market

Tokyo Gas and Petronas LNG over the weekend signed a memorandum of collaboration to strengthen the global presence of both companies in the energy market.

The collaboration would focus on energy markets in South East Asia, Atlantic and the Pacific basins, Tokyo Gas said in a statement.

Mohd Anuar Taib, executive vice president & CEO, Upstream at Petronas, said he hopes the collaboration would expand the existing relationship between the two companies to a global level.

The two companies have been cooperating for 33 years since the establishment of Petronas LNG complex in Bintulu, Sarawak, with a total production capacity of 25.7 million tons of LNG per year.

First cargo from the project has been delivered to Japan in 1983.

In 2012 Tokyo Gas and Petronas signed an agreement for the supply of 900,000 tons of LNG per annum over a period of ten years starting from April 2015.
