Total picks Vroon PSV duo for UK ops

Dutch provider of offshore support vessels Vroon Offshore Services has been awarded a multi-year charter for two platform supply vessels (PSVs) by Total E&P UK.

Vroon said on Wednesday that the two PX-121-type PSVs would support Total’s operations on the UK continental shelf.

The two chartered vessels, which are still to be nominated, are part of a series of six PX-121 type PSVs, constructed for Vroon at the COSCO Guangdong Shipyard in China.

The first vessel will begin duties with Total in February 2018, with the second due to begin operations in September. Both contracts are for a firm period of three years with extension options.

As for the vessels, they feature an Ulstein-patented X-Bow design that ensures smoother vessel movements, optimal fuel efficiency, and maximum comfort on board. The final vessel in the series, VOS Patriot, is scheduled for delivery later this year.

The 83.4-meter long PSVs provide 850 m2 of deck space and a load capacity of 4,200 tonnes (dwt). The five already delivered vessels include the VOS Pace, VOS Paradise, VOS Partner, VOS Passion, and the VOS Patience.

“Total is a major energy player and leading oil and gas operator on the UKCS. We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to support their business activities in the coming years,” Vroon said.

Recently, Vroon found work for the VOS Patience and VOS Partner PSVs with oilfield services company TechnipFMC. The two PSVs will support TechnipFMC, supplying pipelines and subsea materials to TechnipFMC’s construction assets offshore in the Mediterranean.
