Tyra agreement encourages SH Group to open Esbjerg department

After the Danish government sanctioned the life extension plans for the offshore Tyra field, the SH Group has decided to establish a new department in Esbjerg.

SH Group develops, produces, and services hydraulic and mechanical system solutions for the offshore, marine, and industrial sectors.

The company said on Thursday that the goal of the new department was to become the first choice one-stop-shop for owners, operators, and especially those companies who were going to redevelop the Tyra field.

To remind, according to an agreement between Danish oil company Maersk Oil and the Government of Denmark, terms have been set for Maersk and its partners to progress a full redevelopment plan for the Tyra offshore facilities towards a decision to invest in the project by the end of 2017. Before the agreement, Maersk said that Tyra would stop producing late in 2018 and be decommissioned.

Tyra is Denmark’s largest gas field, and the facilities are the processing and export center for all gas produced by the Danish Underground Consortium (DUC). More than 90 percent of Denmark’s gas production is processed through the facilities.

SH Group added on Thursday that it appointed Bjoern Joensen and Hardy Jeremiassen as Business Development Coordinator and Head of Business Development for offshore, wind, and marine service in the Esbjerg department, which will focus on the opportunities arising from the Tyra extension plan.

Joensen comes to SH Group with a background from the marine and offshore industry. Since 2006, he has worked his way up from Service Engineer to Team Lead for Rigs and Vessels at Fanø Kran Service.

Jeremiassen is the previous owner of Oilpower Hydraulics, and for six years he was Service Coordinator and Project Manager with Fanø Kran Service, before changing to PMC Technology in 2014.

Jeppe Sonne, Sales and Marketing Director with SH Group, said: “Both Bjoern and Hardy have years of experience with servicing hydraulic and mechanical equipment, and they are well-known in Esbjerg. We see a clear trend in customers requesting one single source of supplies for all mechanical, hydraulic, control systems, and electrical work. The agreement on the Tyra field extension was reached this week just makes us speed up everything related to the new department in Esbjerg.”

The company also said that Joensen’s would be responsible for expanding the cooperation with existing customers and make new partnership related to the North Sea agreement.

Furthermore, as Head of Business Development, Jeremiassen will mainly be responsible for sales and will attempt to grow relations with customers looking for a one-stop-service-shop. The focus is on local, national, and international customers, who consider Esbjerg a central location for service work on assets.
