U.S. offshore rig count goes up

Baker Hughes Incorporated has posted Weekly Rig Count reports to its Investor Relations website according to which the offshore rig count is up. 


BHI Rig Count: U.S. -98 to 1358 rigs

U.S. Rig Count is down 98 rigs from last week to 1358, with oil rigs down 84 to 1056, gas rigs down 14 to 300, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 2.

U.S. Rig Count is down 406 rigs from last year at 1764, with oil rigs down 367, gas rigs down 37, and miscellaneous rigs down 2.

The U.S. Offshore rig count is 52, up 2 rigs from last week, and down 2 rigs year over year.

BHI Rig Count: Canada +1 to 382 rigs

Canadian Rig Count is up 1 rig from last week to 382, with oil rigs up 14 to 198, and gas rigs down 13 to 184.

Canadian Rig Count is down 242 rigs from last year at 624, with oil rigs down 217, and gas rigs down 25.

Baker Hughes has issued the rotary rig counts as a service to the petroleum industry since 1944, when Hughes Tool Company began weekly counts of U.S. and Canadian drilling activity. Hughes initiated the monthly international rig count in 1975. The North American rig count is released weekly at noon central time on the last day of the work week. The international rig count is released on the fifth working day of each month.
