UAE: Drydocks World Celebrates 40th National Day

Drydocks World, the well-established international maritime services provider, saw enthusiastic participation from over 8000 employees in the 40th National Day celebrations. Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World presided over the ceremony.

The highlight of the day was a poster making competition on the National Day theme, which brought forth highly creative entries. A festive atmosphere hung over Dubai Maritime City and Jadaf Dubai shipyard, which form part of Maritime World.

As we commemorate this National Day, we are acknowledging the vision of our forefathers to create a world leading shipyard in Dubai, which has over the last 28 years developed into a facility that offers a diverse range of services to the maritime and offshore oil and gas industries. The growth of the facility has been phenomenal and has kept step with the rapid development of the country, especially in the international maritime, oil, gas and energy sectors. We have carried out several path breaking projects. As we are on the threshold of a new phase, after the conclusion of a comprehensive restructuring, we are confident of earning more laurels for the nation and the Middle East region,” said Khamis Juma Buamim.

Drydocks World – Dubai facility, the leading ship repair, conversion and new building yards has completed over 250 vessel repairs including several high value repair projects in 2011. The total number of repair projects completed till the end of October 2011 includes a total of 258 vessels, 28 ULCCs, 16 VLCCs, 91 oil tankers, 24 bulk carriers, 56 cargo ships, 1 navy vessel and 42 vessels of various types for leading international clients. The ship lift facility at Dubai Maritime City has also seen a several fold increase in operations over last year.
