UK: Bibby Offshore Introduces Graduate Training Scheme

UK - Bibby Offshore Introduces Graduate Training Scheme

Aberdeen-based subsea installation contractor Bibby Offshore has recently welcomed its first six graduates onto the Bibby Offshore Academy Graduate Training Scheme.

Bibby Offshore Academy was launched last year to address the training needs of potential future employees and for the management and development of current staff.

Six graduates were recently enrolled on the graduate scheme and plans are already in place for a further intake in September this year. The recent intake includes three graduate project engineers, two contracts engineers and an asset management graduate.

The Graduate Training Scheme is a two year programme which gives graduates the chance to experience various departments in the company to allow them to fully understand how the business operates. Graduates are put through their offshore survival training and are provided continual training and development opportunities to help progress their skills. Throughout the two years graduates also have the support of trained mentors within Bibby Offshore.

A number of initiatives within the Bibby Offshore Academy have been launched including Schools Engagement and Workplace Experience to increase the company’s partnerships and support of local pupils and provide first-hand information on the oil and gas industry. The company is also focusing on offering summer and undergraduate placements as part of its University Engagement initiative.

Bibby Offshore Academy has Institute of Leadership and Management accredited Management and Future Management Programmes and an Executive Development Programme to aid current staff in progressing within the company.

Bibby Offshore’s Chief Executive Howard Woodcock said: “Since its launch the Bibby Offshore Academy has been a welcome addition to our workplace. It builds on the success of the previous programme and remains a focus for the company through ongoing communication between the leadership team and individuals.

“Investment in people is a high priority for the company – there are increasing discussions within the industry about skills shortages and Bibby Offshore feels it is important to be proactive towards alleviating potential future skills shortages.

“Bibby Academy is beneficial for the company by providing training and development for new graduates whilst also encompassing initiatives for developing and encouraging current staff at all levels. Overall Bibby Academy is designed to realise and encourage the talent of our people and it works effectively by consolidating and encompassing all the training and development offered within the company.”

Bibby Offshore has over 200 onshore staff onshore at present and 300 offshore staff.
