UK: Chelsea to Resolve Challenges of Effective River Monitoring

Chelsea Technologies Group is addressing the challenges of effective monitoring of rivers, estuaries and coastal regions against outflow events from waste water treatment works and farm slurry.

These challenges have been driven by the EU Bathing Waters Directive, which will introduce new tighter regulation in 2015. Chelsea’s new in-situ sensors also have direct applications within waste water treatment works, which can benefit from improved efficiencies in direct effluent monitoring.

Chelsea is holding a Sensors for Effluent Monitoring Workshop on 19th July 2012 during which Dr Darren Reynolds, Senior Lecturer in Environmental Sciences at the University of the West of England will present an overview of fluorescence measurements and their applications to water quality. Dr John Attridge, Technical Director at Chelsea Technologies will present information, field data and demonstrate the new UviLux Effluent Monitor and supporting systems.
