UK: Construction Continues on Macduff Designed Moorings Maintenance Vessel

Construction Continues on Macduff Designed Moorings Maintenance Vessel

Construction works on the new Macduff designed 36.5m Moorings Maintenance vessel, being built for the Port of London Authority, are in full swing with the wheelhouse, deck casing and a main hull unit already placed on the Manor Marine’s shop floor.

Order for this large Multi Mac vessel was placed at Manor Marine in Portland, UK on the 19th March 2012. Macduff Ship Design was contracted by the Port of London to provide the complete design and drawing package and also to carry out supervision of construction.

The contract for the MMV is the PLA’s largest single investment in over 20 years. The vessel will replace the PLA’s two salvage ships, Crossness and Hookness, which have been in operation along the tidal Thames for over 40 years.

Delivery of the vessel is expected in the first quarter of 2014.
