UK: PPL Invites Bids for Port of Heysham Dredging

PPL Invites Bids for Port of Heysham Dredging

Peel Ports Limited has invited bids for the dredging of Port of Heysham’s North Quay, Lancashire.

Recent surveys of the harbour indicated that levels of silt adjacent to the North Quay have built up and compromise vessel access and that dredging is required to improve the berth availability.

Dredging services required for a quantity (to be determined, but circa 36,000 m3) of basin silts for disposal at sea.

The deadline for this tender is 27.1.2012.

Heysham Port is the 24 hour gateway offering easy round-the-clock access for Irish Sea ferries, a diverse range of general cargo services and the response-time sensitive offshore gas supply industry.

Covering an area of 120 acres, the Port has a 91 metre wide entrance leading to a harbour 213 metres wide, 730 metres long with a minimum depth of 4.1 metres OLWS.

Located on the Lancashire coast of Morecambe Bay, close to the UK’s main West Coast M6 motorway, Heysham Port is the “easy” route to cost effective distribution.
