UK: Robin Goodwin Joins ThinJack

Aberdeenshire-based oil service firm ThinJack has announced the appointment of Robin Goodwin to the team.

Prior to joining ThinJack, Robin from Gloucestershire enjoyed a career as a mechanic and tyre specialist with BMW based in the UK. His new role within ThinJack’s Westhill-based team will see him assist in the provision of specialist flange separation services to the company’s growing number of clients around the world.

Commenting on his appointment, Robin said: “I was keen to return to a mechanical engineering career and jumped at the chance to work with ThinJack in this exciting and challenging role.

“I am pleased to have been accepted into an established company where I am enjoying starting my career in the oil and gas industry as part of a specialist team proving a unique service.”

ThinJack director Guy Bromby added: “Robin is a committed, capable and personable colleague, who joined us in a full time permanent position after a two week trial period. We enjoy working with him and are optimistic about his future with the company.”

Robin joins a team of five staff based at ThinJack’s offices in Westhill, Aberdeenshire who work closely with additional trained field technicians at its overseas bases at Melbourne in Australia, Al Khobar in Saudi Arabia and Luling in Louisiana, USA.

The ThinJack service uses patented millimetric-thin steel envelopes which can be inflated with up to 2,500 bar of hydraulic pressure to exert hundreds of tonnes of force.

The service deploys specialist equipment and highly trained experts anywhere in the world at short notice to separate wellhead flanges which are seized and causing costly delays during well workovers. The unique ThinJack service is a safe and fast solution for separating and jacking in hazardous, difficult or restricted areas.
