UK: ROVOP Named Promising New Business

Fast-growing energy company ROVOP has won a top industry accolade after being named Promising New Business at last night’s (Thursday, June 21) 2012 Grampian Awards for Business Enterprise awards ceremony.

Within just a year of its inception, ROVOP has successfully carved out a niche for itself as an independent company providing specialist, rapid response ROV solutions for the global energy industry.

Headquartered in Westhill, Aberdeenshire, the company provides first-class equipment and pilot technicians to ensure ROV projects are delivered safely and efficiently. ROVOP is a unique business in that it is 100% focused on ROV services and therefore provides genuine expert capability.

Managing director, Steven Gray, said: “ROVOP has exceeded business expectations in a short period of time and this award is tremendous recognition of the company’s growth.

“It is also testament to the hard work that everyone involved at ROVOP has put into establishing the company and the success that has been achieved so far. A large part of ROVOP’s growth is down to our ability to provide a reliable, consistent and totally-focused ROV service.”

The recognition comes just four months after ROVOP was named as a finalist for Best New Enterprise at Subsea UK’s 2012 business awards.

ROVOP was set up by Mr Gray, technical director Scott Freeland and chairman Mark Vorenkamp.

Within the past seven months, the company has created significant employment opportunities in the North-east of Scotland and also invested more than £750,000 in one of the most powerful subsea vehicles of its kind.

ROVOP acquired a purpose-built Saab Seaeye Cougar XT ROV. The vehicle is capable of operating in hazardous locations and environments – including currents of up to three knots – and features a suite of cutting-edge subsea tools and sensing technology such as the latest 3-D sonar and a laser measurement camera.

ROVOP’s growth has also involved it employing six staff and eight contractors by April this year with the company expecting this to increase to 38 employees and contractors by July.
