UK: South Boats and P&O Ink Contract for Two 17.5m WFSV

South Boats Special Projects Ltd. and P&O Maritime Ltd. announce that the two companies have signed a contract for the construction of 2 x Incat Crowther designed 17.5m Wind Farm Service Vessels withoptions for further vessels.

The two vessels will be built under survey to Lloyds classification at the company’s new East Cowes facility on the Isle of Wight. The craft will be fitted with twin Scania DI16 43M marine diesel engines driving Clements Engineering shafting and propellers and will be delivered to P&O later this year.

P&O currently operate an identical sister vessel ‘Santa Ana’, which is currently in service on the Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm project and which is being supported by South Boats in service.

This order is significant to South Boats as it is the first time the company has built vessels to a design other than it’s own and hopes that this demonstrates the commitment that South Boats has to the offshore wind farm industry to build a diverse and versatile product range to suit the many different roles and tasks that are required during the construction and O&M phases.
