Ukraine Looking to Import LNG from Croatia
Ukrainian gas transportation company Ukrtransgaz is looking into the possibility of importing LNG from Croatia under the Adriatic Gas Corridor project.
Chief engineer Oleg Mikhalevich attending an international seminar on energy future and security in Tbilisi said: “Ukraine is considering joining the Adriatic Gas Corridor project initiated by Croatia and supported by Hungary and the European Commission.”
The gas will be supplied from a planned LNG terminal on the island of Krk in Croatia.
This option would consolidate gas transportation systems of Croatia, Hungary and Ukraine, giving Ukraine the option to increase the supply of gas from other sources, and its storage facilities would allow the country to build up gas reserves for project participants and other European countries.
Ukraine is also exploring the TANAP project that will transport gas from Azerbaijan to Europe, which would also add to Ukraine’s gas supply options.
