The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, is seeking public input regarding the upcoming Mississippi River levee enlargement project that extends from the Audubon Park’ Riverview to the Jefferson Parish line.

The Corps is hosting a community meeting to provide a status update on the construction of levee project and to hear residents’ concerns and comments.

Items that will be discussed include:

– Estimated scope and duration of the project,

– Access to the Audubon Fly and levee multi-use path during construction,

– Traffic impacts and construction transportation routes,

– Vegetation and tree removal.

“The levee enlargement will further reduce the public’s risk from future Mississippi River flooding,” said Durund Elzey, senior project manager. “Our goal is to construct this project with the least possible impacts to the surrounding community.”
