BAE Systems Hosts Steel Cutting Ceremony for Two PSVs

BAE Systems Southeast Shipyards Jacksonville LLC yesterday held a steel cutting ceremony for Jackson Offshore Operators’ two new platform supply vessels of GPA 675J design. The vessels, to be named M/V Thunder and M/V Breeze, will be 252-feet long and 60-feet wide.

They will be equipped with two Azipull propulsion thrusters, tunnel thrusters, a low-voltage front-end diesel electric system as well as Acon automation and Icon Dynamic Positioning (DP-2) systems – all supplied by Rolls Royce.

The two of the GPA 675J PSVs are expected to be delivered in 2013 and 2014. Upon delivery, these vessels will begin a multi-year charter in the deepwater sector of the Gulf of Mexico.
