USA: Huntington Ingalls Industries` Employees Make Donation to United Way Organizations

Huntington Ingalls Industries, employees at its Ingalls Shipbuilding​ division, donated $757,000 to United Way organizations in four communities shipbuilders call home.

“Once again, our employees have shown pride in their communities with their contributions to United Way,” said Richard Schenk, vice president of Test and Trials at Ingalls Shipbuilding and chairman of United Way for Jackson and George Counties. “As a result of everybody’s generosity, we were able to help many of those who are less fortunate than us.”

Shipbuilders at all Ingalls work sites contributed through payroll deduction, direct contribution and employee drives. Employees in Pascagoula donated more than $510,000, making Ingalls the largest contributor through employee donations to United Way for Jackson and George Counties in Mississippi.

“On behalf of United Way, I would like to thank all Ingalls employees for another successful campaign,” said Carolyn Moore, chief professional officer, United Way for Jackson and George Counties. “Your generous donations will help improve the lives of thousands in our community who need it most.”

In addition to the donations to Jackson and George counties, Gulfport employees donated $29,000 to United Way of South Mississippi, Avondale employees donated $139,000 to United Way for the Greater New Orleans Area, and AMSEC employees in Virginia donated $79,000 to the United Way of Hampton Roads.
