Jones Inlet Dredging Plan Unveiled

The Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, introduced a plan for the Jones Inlet dredging program.

The project includes maintenance dredging of the Federal Navigation channel and deposition basins at Jones Inlet with subsequent placement of the dredged material along the designated downdrift beach west of the inlet.

The proposed maintenance dredging and beach nourishment will involve dredging of 636,050 cubic yards of material from the channel with placement at Point Lookout Beach.

The work is estimated to cost over $5 mln, and the bid opening date is August 28, 2013.
