USA: MAREC Offshore Wind Event Canceled

The international lecture planned at Grand Valley’s Michigan Alternative and Renewable Energy Center on Friday, March 16, has been canceled.

Organizers said Iñigo J. Losada from the University of Cantabria in Spain will not be able to attend due to weather-related travel difficulties and they hope to reschedule the event in the future.

Losada, professor of civil engineering, was planning to discuss the importance of marine climate information and modelling tools to achieve cost-effective functionality, technical quality and environmentally sustainable conditions. He will present methods and tools for the assessment of the life cycle of offshore and coastal infrastructures, and present examples suitable to applications in the Great Lakes.

Losada is the co-founder and R&D director of the Institute of Environmental Hydraulics UC, a multidisciplinary international center working in 24 different countries. He is also the Principal Investigator of the Cantabria Coastal and Ocean Basin, a unique experimental large-scale facility. He has directed and participated in over 50 technological transfer projects for companies and national/international administrations, and has developed tools and methodologies that are used in many countries.
