UTEC Geomarine Strengthens Asia Pacific Portfolio

UTEC Geomarine has recently relocated a suite of geotechnical equipment to Australia, from the UK, to meet demand from the company’s offices located in Perth, Singapore and Jakarta.

The equipment, which includes a 75-kN ROSON cone penetrometer tester (CPT), UTEC Geomarine’s patented geoROV CPT system, a piston corer capable of cores up to 9 m, a vibrocorer capable of cores up to 6 m and laboratory equipment for offshore testing and analysis of geotechnical samples, will be based in Australia to enable rapid mobilisation in the region.

The 75-kN ROSON CPT was recently used to acquire data at 29 locations at depths to 30 m below the seabed in water depths of more than 1000 m and on slopes of up to 18° for a project in Western Australia. The data will be used in engineering studies for future oilfield development.

“The relocation of our geotechnical equipment to Asia Pacific enables us to respond rapidly to our clients’ geotechnical needs and aligns with UTEC’s growth objectives in the region,” said Jon Beatty, managing director of UTEC Geomarine.
