VIDEO: IPH Presents Rotor Blade Assembly Aid

Hanover institute of integrated production (IPH) developed a new method for installing wind turbine blades.

Its assembly aid makes it much easier to fix rotor blades to off-shore wind turbines. Instead of a crane, a gripper holds the rotor blade in position and lifts it to the top of the wind turbine.

The gripper is remote controlled and can be tilted by 15 degrees in order to position the blade exactly into the hub.
