Video: Sneak Peek at Celebrity Edge

The final outfitting of Celebrity Cruises’ newest ship Celebrity Edge is well underway now that the ship has been floated out from a drydock at STX France shipyard.

The 117,000 gross ton cruise ship is moored in the basin of Saint Nazaire, where final onboard installations and shipboard amenities are being completed.

Despite several of its accommodation floors still being covered with protective sheets, the painting of the dark blue livery seems to be nearing its completion with the ship’s name still to be added to the hull.

The ship is 300 meters long and 38 meters wide and has the capability to carry 2,900 guests in 1,450 staterooms.

One of the notable features of the ship will be the so-called Magic Carpet, a 90-ton movable platform that will be cantilevered over its side. This floating platform reaches a height of 13 stories above sea level. The ship will also feature a rooftop garden, dubbed the Eden.

The ship is set for delivery in October 2018.
