VIDEO Update on the Atascadero Creek Dredging Project

Dredging continues in Atascadero Creek and the Goleta Slough near Ward Memorial Drive in Goleta, reports the Santa Barbara County.

According to the county, the stockpiles of sediment are now being trucked to the west end of Goleta Beach, on the access road near the bike path.

Removing the sediment that has settled in the slough reduces the flood risk and protects homes and business in the area. The suitable settlement of the material also nourishes our local beaches,” the county said.

Work on the dredging project began on October 16, and will continue until the middle of November.
