Volgotrans Orders Two Chemical Tankers from Krasnoye

Russian shipyard Krasnoye Sormovo has received an order for construction of two chemical tankers from its compatriot shipping company Volgotrans LLC, owner of the ships, and Goznak Leasing CJSC, acting as lessor of the ships.

The RST27 project tankers, scheduled for delivery in 2017, are self-propelled vessels Volga-Don Max Class ships designed for mixed (river-sea) transportation of a wide range of products, including methanol products.

The ships will feature improved project RST27 design developed by Marine Engineering Bureau (Odessa), class notation Ice1 R2 AUT1-ICS OMBO VCS ECO-S Oil tanker / Chemical tanker type 2 (vegetable oil) (ESP) to be provided by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

The ships will boast overall length of140.85 m, width of 16.86 m, depth of 6 m and an operating speed  of up to 10.5 knots.

Volgotrans LLC, founded in September 2009, specializes primarily in the transport of goods by inland waterways. The company operates its own and chartered fleet of 5400-ton tankers for year-round navigation, 2500 to 4800-ton tankers for seasonal operations and сombo vessels – OBO carriers, capable of carrying deck cargo and bulk oil, of capacity of up to 3,100 tonnes.
