Volstad to Take Delivery of Grand Canyon III This Sunday

Norwegian vessel owner Volstad Maritime will this Sunday, May 1st, take delivery of its offshore construction vessel (OCV) Grand Canyon III.

The OCV was previously scheduled for delivery in February, however, in January this year, the companies agreed to put off its handover for May.

Following the rescheduling agreement, Volstad also struck a deal to revise its charters for three Grand Canyon vessels.

With respect to M/V Grand Canyon III, Volstad and Helix’s marine contracting business unit Canyon Offshore agreed to a reduction in charter rates, as well as a delayed activation and a cold stack period of one year, in return for a two-year extension to term of the charter.

After delivery, the vessel can still be activated at any time with a short notice period.

One week before its delivery, on Sunday, April 24, Kleven opened its shipyard gates at Myklebust Verft and held the Grand Canyon III open ship day event.

The vessel was designed by Ålesund-based design company Skipsteknisk (ST-259 CD). It is approximately 128 m long, and fit to accommodate 104 persons.
