Vroon christens new ‘Rolling Stones’ fleet member

Vroon has christened its ‘Rolling Stones’ subsea support vessel (SSV) fleet member, the VOS Star, in Dordrecht, Netherlands.

Vroon said that the christening ceremony was held on Monday, June 27, and that the vessel was christened by Lianne Maandag, wife of Evert Maandag, Vroon Head QHSE.

The SSV VOS Star is the newest addition to the ‘Rolling Stones’ fleet. The VOS Sympathy, VOS Shelter, VOS Satisfaction, VOS Shine, VOS Sweet, VOS Sugar, and VOS Star were already delivered to Vroon while the VOS Start and VOS Stone will be delivered in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

VOS Star is a DP2, SPS-coded, 68-metre subsea support vessel (SSV) and one of two SSVs to have been constructed at Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding in China. The vessel left China in April and arrived in Amsterdam earlier this month. Upon arrival, an active heave-compensated crane was installed on the vessel, and it is now ready to start its first charter in the subsea support market for VBMS.

The vessel is mobilized with an ROV, subsea jetting tools and cable reels and is fitted with an active heave compensated crane.

Vroon stated that the vessel was designed for a variety of subsea and offshore tasks and that this first charter will provide the opportunity for the VOS Star to combine both disciplines.
