The company said the vessel will support the installation works of 47 turbines at the project site by providing walk-to-work services, and will be using Barrow as base port for crew change and loading of fresh supplies. The works are expected to be taking place over four to five months before the wind farm is fully commissioned.

Walney Extension will consist of 40 8.25MW MHI Vestas wind turbines at the West phase, which is almost completed, and 47 7MW Siemens Gamesa turbines at the East phase.

Seajacks Scylla is installing all 87 wind turbines at the site, with turbine components being stored in Belfast and the construction coordinated from the port of Barrow in Furness.

The 659MW Walney Extension is located off the coast of Cumbria in the Irish Sea, near the existing Walney offshore wind farm, on which C-bed’s Wind Ambition was deployed in 2010. Walney Extension marks the 21st offshore wind project for the offshore accommodation and W2W vessel provider.
