Wind Turbines Could Cause More Accidents at Sea

Wind Turbines Could Cause Accidents at Sea

The Dutch Coast Guard fears that more accidents will occur as more offshore wind farms are being built, writes Dutch daily newspaper DeTelegraaf.

“The North Sea is already one of the busiest seas in the world. The new upcoming wind turbines will not make it any safer,” warns Ed Veen, director of the Dutch Coast Guard.

Veen stressed the importance of a new risk assessment for the North Sea.

He noted that ships have been sailing on increasingly crowded sea and that new obstacles would increase the risk of collision.
