Wison New Energies was hired by Genting in June 2024 to build the FLNG facility at its shipyards in Nantong and ZhouShan. After yard performance test, the FLNG facility was to be transported to Teluk Bintuni, West Papua, Indonesia, for final commissioning. The keel-laying ceremony for the FLNG facility was held in February 2025.

With a total length of around 320.8 meters, a width of 60 meters, an operational water depth of 32.8 meters, and a liquefaction capacity of 1.2 million metric tons per annum (mtpa), the unit features WNE’s standardized design.

The Chinese player held the project hull launching ceremony and 10 million manhours LTI free celebration to mark the completion of the hull construction phase and the project’s entry into the next critical stage, including topsides module integration and system installation, making solid progress toward overall delivery and future commercial operation.

Upon completion, the FLNG will be deployed to West Papua, as Indonesia’s first such facility, which is regarded as a landmark development for the country’s natural gas sector and is expected to bring positive momentum to regional energy supply and the global LNG market.

The Chinese firm highlighted: “As the third FLNG facilities built by Wison, the steady progress of the Genting FLNG project demonstrates that Wison has established a mature and replicable project execution and delivery system in the FLNG sector, further reinforcing its competitive position in the global high-end clean energy equipment market.

“Looking ahead, Wison New Energies will continue to leverage its technology innovation and systematic expertise accumulated in FLNG and other floating energy solutions, driving continuous improvements in efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.”
