Wolfard & Wessels Presents New CNC-Controlled Bending Machine

Following the recent innovations, which are in-use for over a year now both in shipbuilding as civil industry, Wolfard & Wessels continued this process by commissioning an all-new CNC-controlled bending machine for its production process. It provides the capabilities to produce, in addition to straight lengths, more complex pipe spools without any welding requirements.

Requirements for pickling and passivation on the of stainless steel piping are void in addition to omittance of welding. Director Jan Overzet: “It saves significantly in the ecologic footprint of piping production. Nu welding fumes, no acid fumes and whilst the quality of piping only increases.

These innovations provide not just environmental benefits but also shorter lead times and a reduction in costs. Wolfard & Wessels showed once more that competing with countries with low wages is indeed within reach.

Latest innovations emerged out of the combinations of various in-house disciplines, including engineering and piping outfitting. Due to these disciplines, interaction between company procedures and processes continuously raises questions in how and why. Jan Overzet: “At first we had innovation out of the synergy between disciplines, but innovation is the basis of our existence. A company structure fitting operating in the 21st century.

The innovations will be presented in May during the next shipbuilding fair, Maritime Industry in Gorinchem. The public can feel and sense the advantages when visiting the booth of Wolfard & Wessels Werktuigbouw.
