Wood Group Appoints New Chairman of the Board

Wood Group announces the appointment of Ian Marchant as Chairman of the Board following the retirement of Allister Langlands at the end of the Annual General Meeting, scheduled for 14 May 2014.

Wood Group Appoints New Chairman of the Board

Ian has been a director of Wood Group since 2006 and has been senior independent non-executive director since May 2012. He was Chief Executive of SSE plc for over ten years prior to his retirement in June 2013, is non-executive chairman of Infinis Energy PLC and a non-executive director of Aggreko plc.

Allister has been with Wood Group since 1991, initially as Finance Director until 2000, then as Deputy CEO and from 2007 as Group CEO, before becoming Chairman in 2012.

Commenting on Ian Marchant’s appointment, Allister Langlands said: “Ian has made an outstanding contribution to the Board as a non-executive director, as chairman of the Audit Committee and, latterly as our senior independent non-executive director. Following his retirement as Chief Executive of SSE, the Board and the Nomination Committee are delighted that he has agreed to succeed me as Chairman of Wood Group.”

Ian Marchant said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to chair the Board of Wood Group following Allister’s retirement. Allister has been an outstanding leader and the architect of much of the Group’s organic and acquisitive growth over 23 years including, most recently, the acquisition of PSN, the sale of the Group’s Well Support business and the proposed rotating equipment joint venture with Siemens. Since his appointment as Chairman in 2012, he has provided valuable continuity and support for Bob Keiller as he has taken over leadership of the Group. My Board colleagues and I wish Allister every happiness in his retirement and I look forward to working with Bob and his executive team in the next phase of the Group’s development.”
