Wood Group Intetech names new global business development manager

Wood Group Intetech (WGI), an asset integrity specialist serving the global energy industry, has appointed Colin Underwood as global business development manager.

The company said in an announcement on Wednesday that he would be responsible for both leveraging and building the global capability of WGI.

Working with the company’s regional representatives, he would ensure that international efforts for business development, client support and product enhancement are effectively coordinated.

Underwood brings with him more than 30 years of industry experience, working across a broad range of disciplines and in a variety of geographical and cultural settings. Most recently, he was a programme manager at Schlumberger Information Solutions based in Europe, the UAE and US.

Founder and managing director of Wood Group Intetech, Dr Liane Smith, said: “With approximately 85 per cent of our business based on exports, the global business development manager is a crucial role. We are proud to secure the services of someone like Colin, whose experience covers the complete lifecycle of IT and service delivery. We are committed to investing in the skills within WGI as well as in our products, and we work hard to be able to attract high-calibre people to the business.”

Underwood commented: “I’m delighted to be given this opportunity. WGI is known to have unrivalled expertise when it comes to asset integrity software. I think that the benefit of its solutions are clear to see: they are pivotal to maintaining operators’ ability to operate safely in the field. For a small company to build a world-leading position in asset integrity is hugely impressive and I’m very pleased to get the chance to help extend that position.”

The company noted that Colin Underwood would be based at WGI’s headquarters in Chester, UK.
