Wood Mackenzie Expects Gas Demand in Transport Sector to Quadruple

Wood Mackenzie expects that gas demand in the transport sector will grow from nearly 40 bcm in 2012 to over 160 bcm in 2030, the global energy research company said in a report.

Until now, natural gas played only a niche role in global transport. However that looks set to change, thanks to growing oil and gas price differentials and environmental restrictions on emissions. This has implications for both gas demand and oil demand, according to Wood Mackenzie.

In the video above, Noel Tomnay, Wood Mackenzie’s principal analyst for global gas and LNG, outlines the company’s view that gas is an increasingly compelling proposition in the global transport sector.
