Yemen: Portunus Completes Project in Uprise Areas

In last two years, there are many developments and changes in the Middle East and North Africa. Many countries have had problems because of freedom, human rights, fuel fights, politics and many others. One of these countries is Yemen in Middle East.

Portunus Port Spares and Services had published a contract signing with DP World Aden Port in Yemen for n.4 Rubber Tyred Gantry Crane in November 2010.

After signing the contract, country had faced with many difficulties and some part of this region became very critical and risky. Portunus Sales Manager Mr. Onder Turker said “Apart from the contract, we give our word to our customers to finish the job that we start. For this project, we had worked on all necessary security protections and keep working on the site. Our company policies would never let us to leave the work in the middle of the way.”

This project consists of refurbishing N.4 Reggiane rubber tyred gantry cranes (RTG). These cranes had been stripted as dimounting all parts, from spreaders to load cells. Main components had been temporarily imported to Portunus workshops in Turkey and after all overhaulings, all parts had been sent back to Aden.

Nowadays, Portunus engineers and technicians are about finalizing the job with full of peace with local citizens against all uprise in the region.
